How this list is kept
Where it comes from. Envelope reads the Department of City Planning's application portal (ZAP), the City Council's land use votes and DCP's zoning map amendment layer every few minutes. An application is listed once the Council adopts it, dated by the Council vote.
Rezonings. Envelope reads DCP's live zoning map on every lookup, so a rezoning is live in Envelope the day DCP publishes the new map. Each day the list asks DCP's map for a lot named in the application and records the first day the new district appears. Until then the change is shown as being implemented, because until then it is.
Text amendments. A change to the rules themselves needs work on the engine. It is listed as being implemented until that work ships, then with the date it shipped. Mapping an Inclusionary Housing area is read from DCP's map like a rezoning.
Your lots. Save or watch a lot and Envelope tells you when a change like these touches it, when a comparable sale or a DOB filing lands nearby, and when its own answer for the lot moves.
